More Info

Each year EcoWorks hosts an annual breakfast to honor “Sustainable Community Champions” in the region and to bring together some of the best thinkers, activists, and policymakers to share their stories.  We have a diverse audience of 150-200 people representing community organizations, government, non-profit, and sustainable business. Past keynote speakers have included former governor Jennifer Granholm, former Mayor of Pittsburgh Tom Murphy, and Jerome Ringo, the first person of color to chair a major environmental organization in the U.S. (National Wildlife Federation). In September 2017 EcoWorks will host its 9th Annual Breakfast. We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Detroit’s first Sustainability Director Joel Howrani Heeres. Heeres, a former EcoWorks employee, will lead a new Sustainability Office charged with strengthening the economic, social and environmental well-being of Detroit’s residents, neighborhoods, and businesses. Joel brings a wealth of experience on urban sustainability to this position, having served in multiple roles in the municipal, non-profit, and corporate sectors. DETAILS: Museum exhibits are FREE & open to all Breakfast attendees Complimentary valet parking is available at the Warren Ave. entrance NEW THIS YEAR, in an effort to promote green modes of transportation, FREE Bike Valet will be available
