Detroit in Tech: Latinx in Tech
Grand Circus is excited to announce our third Detroit In Tech event of the year with our Diversity Coordinator, Gabriela Santiago-Romero. This months event will be held at Repair the World in Southwest Detroit where we will hear insights from Latinx entreprenuers in tech. Come learn about their experience and come prepared to ask questions to help you in your tech journey! Our panelists line up! Cristina Landa: Director at Venture for America in Detroit- a national entrepreneurship fellowship program for recent college graduates. Cris spends her time support VFA's growing Fellow and Alumni network in Detroit, sources startups seeking top-notch talent in the region and collaborates with their incredible network of local partners that are invested in their mission. Dylan Ramirez: is the Director of Business Development and member of the founding team at Sift- a Detroit based startup making software to help organizations better understand their workforce. A 2015 Venture for America Fellow with a broad professional background in the advertising, finance, and software industries, Dylan has a deep passion for building great products and the role of ethics and inclusion in the future of tech. Jesus de los Santos: from the Rio Grande Valley, on the Southern tip of Texas, before I coming to Michigan for his MSW degree from U of M, Jesus was a tutor (general Bio, Chem, English, Psych) a study group facilitator, a workshop and training creator and presenter. He recently began creating animations for his internship at the Pontiac SUN TimeBank. He did so with minimal experience in technology and zero experience with animation, but a strong desire for Social Justice. The animations are used to advertise the organizations services, as call to action videos, for fundraising, and for several other functions. ToDoolie: ToDoolie is how Grosse Pointe residents hire local students to help with their To-Do list. Affordable, Insured, and Reliable. Code2040 - is a nonprofit organization that creates pathways to educational, professional, and entrepreneurial success for Black and Latinx technologists. GrandCircus - is passionate about training people for amazing careers in tech and helping local businesses grow by hiring local tech superstars. Our coding bootcamps serve both purposes: we give people critical skills for tech jobs while introducing them to businesses looking for talent. In addition to our bootcamps, we’re here for the tech community more broadly. The Detroit in Tech Panel will be a monthly event that will be led by Grand Circus. Gabriela will also release a monthly blog highlighting entrepreneurs of color in Detroit.
